First trade boat with slaves as cargo arrived in Boston

Town of Andover incorporated (originally present day North Andover + Andover)

Earliest gravestone still remaining in the North Parish Burial Yard

South Parish in Andover established by the Great and General Court of Boston

Robert Russell is the first person buried in the South Parish burial ground

The Church in the South Parish of Andover founded, Rev. Samuel Phillips, pastor

The Rev. Samuel Phillips dies, The Rev. Jonathan French installed as pastor

 April 19, 1775

300+ men from Andover answered The Alarm and chased the British troops from Lexington back to Boston

All missions committees are managed together under a Christian Benevolence department.  The four leading committees were Foreign Missions, Home Missions, the Tract Society, and the Education Society

Official separation of Church and State effected in Massachusetts

Abraham Marland formed Christ Church as an Episcopal church in Andover

Methodist Church formed in Andover

South Church voted anti-slavery language into their “Rules of Order”

Free Christian Church formed in Andover

North Andover split from Andover, church renamed South Parish Church

Present church building erected

The Town held its funeral service for President Lincoln at South Church

Fire destroyed cemetery and other church records

Memorial Boulder placed in Cemetery as a tribute to the early settlers
