Instruments, Instrumentalists and Dancers

The Sanctuary organ is a 3-manual tracker pipe organ built by George Bozeman. Jr. and Co.    A Steinway grand piano also graces the sanctuary. Instrumentalists from the congregation are warmly encouraged to share their musical gifts in regular services and as part of any special musical works which take place. We are privileged to have string, wind, and brass players among us, as well as pianists, organists, and vocal soloists. Percussionists, classical and contemporary guitar players, and liturgical dancers further enhance the rich array of musical and artistic offerings at South Church.

  PERFORMING ARTS

SOUTH CHURCH MUSICAL

The Performing Arts Group of South Church puts on a fully staged musical yearly.  Past performances have included The wizard of Oz, Children of Eden, Honk, The Music Man and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat  among others.  All who wish to participate are included, with the requirement of regular attendance at rehearsals.  Casts include all ages and all musical abilities. Children 10 and under are required to have a parent on stage with them.  This major project requires actors, singers, dancers, musicians, carpenters, sewers, painters, and lots of organizational people—as many as 150 altogether.  All participants must attend auditions to fill out paperwork so that assignments to choruses and dance groups are based upon numbers, age, size, etc.  Individual tryouts are held for featured parts and dance groups The show is not yet decided and will be announced in late fall. Watch the 5 minutes from south Church for information.  Rehearsals begin in early January and the musical will be performed on March 7th, 8th and 9th, 2008. For more information call Director Linda  Zimmerman at 978-470-1580.
