Reverend Jonathan Drury

"I am currently serving South Church in Andover as its Associate Pastor, a ministry of call I have been engaged in for the past 3 years. Prior to becoming the Associate Pastor, I served for 6 years as South Church’s Director of Youth Ministry. Today, my ministry revolves around providing direction for the youth program, worship leadership, and pastoral care and counseling. The time I have shared with South Church in Andover has given me remarkable opportunities to work with a variety of folks on a wide array of projects, and I feel the experiences I have had and the people I have learned from have formed my vocation and call.
I believe I am a compassionate person, a good communicator, and a hard worker. I model my love for people on the love demonstrated by Jesus Christ, and have always felt called to care for folks who appear to have been carelessly disregarded or marginalized by the world. I approach my ministry with humility, and recognize my call is to bring people’s attention to the Gospel. I try to do this in my life by sharing the good news of Christ’s story and by helping folks to recognize the presence of God’s Spirit all around them.
I am a member of the Andover Association Church and Ministry Committee and have served as the Chair of the committee for the past three years. I participate in the Andover Association of UCC Pastors, the UCC Clergy Network For Young Ministers (under the age of 40), the ecumenical Association of Andover Clergy, and am part of a United Church of Christ community of practice.
I enjoy theater and singing, and have been performing in one way or another my whole life. I love being part of the annual South Church Players productions, and always look forward to singing with Harmonic Regression.
My time away from the church is shared with my wonderful wife Jolie and our three beautiful sons, Nathaniel, Gideon, and Elijah. Three boys under the age of nine keeps us busy, but it also means we are swimming in love. There is nothing better than soaking in it."
