WELCOME
NURSERY CAREGIVER
Stop by the nursery on
Sunday morning and greet our wonderful new nursery
caregiver, Suzanne Bonelli, neighbor and friend of
Janice Holden and her family. Suzanne is a hairdresser
who works at home in order to be available for her two
children. Her husband, Don, teaches mechanics
engineering at Lawrence Vo-Tech. Their twelve year old
daughter, Molly, is a student at
West Middle School
and is looking forward to helping her mom in our nursery
every now and then. Three year old Ben may also “help”
out. He attends Shawsheen three mornings a week.
We are
extremely happy to have Suzanne watching over our
youngest children each Sunday. She loves meeting new
people and caring for their little ones, and will make
sure that our nursery is a welcoming, nurturing, safe
place to be. Our children will most certainly be
happier, too, knowing they’ll be with Suzanne each
Sunday.

ALTERNATIVE, NON-TRADITIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL
PILOT
PROGRAM TO BEGIN SOON. . .
At South
Church, we have a successful Sunday school program which
works for most children. However, there are some children
who find the traditional class a challenge. A three week
pilot program for children in
grades 2 through 5
will be offered for non-traditional learners on May 4, 11,
and 18. If your child has not been coming to
Sunday school, or needs a structured but more flexible
class, consider trying this 3-week pilot program. The
program will be held in the Choir Room, and children will
attend during their regular Sunday school class time. The
class can accommodate a maximum of 15 children and
registration is required. For
planning purposes, April 23rd
is the deadline for registration. Contact
Terry Ebner at South Church, Ext. 105, to register. For
more information or questions please contact Terry Ebner,
Chris Williams (978) 557-1097 or Susan Henke (978)
688-3053. |
GRANDPARENTS
ROCK
Remembering our baptismal
promise… Please consider being a “grand rocker”
in the Nursery or the Beginners Class (ages 2 & 3)
during church worship hour. Volunteer “rockers” will
assist two teachers, so the responsibility is simply to
rock a little one or perhaps read a story. To share
this special connection with the youngest members of our
church family, please sign up at the Board of Women’s
Ministry table in Fellowship Hall during coffee hour.

SUNDAY
SCHOOL DISMISSAL POLICY
We have
a good system, but it never hurts to re-emphasize our
dismissal policy. Young children in Nursery - 4th
grade should be picked up by a parent or authorized
person promptly at the close of worship. Something
new: Please notify teachers in writing if your child is
to be dismissed with someone other than a parent. Only
5th grade or older children may be
responsible for picking up a younger sibling.

CHILDREN’S WORSHIP SERVICE
The first Children’s Worship
Service of the new school year takes place this Sunday
in Fellowship Hall. Grades K-6th will begin
the 10:30 hour in their classroom instead of worship as
they prepare for the service.
The kids are sure to have
lots of fun because high school senior, Annelise Mesler,
is leading this interactive service which will focus on
the seasons of the church year. Annelise is on her way
toward earning the Girl Scout Gold Leadership Award. As
part of this process, she’s developed an extensive
Seasons of the Church Year educational program to
benefit our Sunday School. Be sure to check out the
colorful banners she’s created for six of our
classrooms. Way to go, Annelise!
The service will also
include, Martin McGrath (on guitar) and Susan Henke
teaching the children the 60’s peace song, adopted from
Ecclesiastes, “Turn, Turn, Turn.”

Helping Children
WORLD
VISION
SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
The Board of Christian
Education is excited about this year’s special opportunity
to connect with four children from around the world, as
South Church teachers and children look forward to
welcoming these little ones into their hearts and
prayers. In addition to sending their Sunday school
offering to World Vision, our children will be encouraged
to learn about the lives of our sponsored children and
write letters, send cards, even small gifts. We hope to
also receive letters!
World Vision, a Christian
relief and development organization dedicated to working
with children, families, and their communities worldwide,
makes it possible for us to sponsor the following
children:
Pre-K – 3rd
Grades are sponsoring:
Marief Kutemba, 5, from
the Republic of Congo, and Evariste Ndayigana from
Rwanda, also age 5
4th grade– H.S.
are sponsoring:
Saimah Mukarrom from
Indonesia, 11, and Felipe Goncalves Da Costa from
Brazil, 10.
Please encourage your children
to contribute toward World Vision a portion of their
allowance or earned money each week in Sunday school. And
most importantly, please keep these special children and
their families in your prayers. For all God’s children,
Terry Ebner and

K-HIGH
SCHOOL SUNDAY SCHOOL DISMISSAL
Because it is difficult to know the exact time sanctuary
worship will end, and lesson time is so brief for K-High
School classes, teachers like to plan a lesson that will
engage the children until 11:45. Therefore, we ask your
patience in waiting until then for your child. Nursery –
Pre-K children should be picked up immediately following
worship. |
